My research characterizes the impacts of growing human populations on aquatic ecosystems, and identifying conservation strategies for protecting and restoring watersheds. Understanding how urbanization and its associated stressors degrade fish populations and communities is an overarching focus of my research program. We examine the effects of altered hydrology, temperature, habitat, water quality, and food resources on stream fishes; quantifying the responses of fishes to urbanization, and assessing the potential, through management, of restoring fish assemblages.
